Starting your very own home business is actually not a new concept nowadays, as evidenced by the myriad of different home-based businesses that can be found on the internet today. People have been doing this for quite some time now, especially after the internet has opened a lot of new business opportunities for everyone.
Unfortunately, not a lot of people are willing to start their own home business. Here are 3 reasons as to why people are afraid of starting one of their own home business.
Reason #1: Knowing Very Little
One of the main reasons why a lot of people are afraid of starting their own home business is the fact that they don’t really understand how to do it, nor do they understand much about how the internet works. Since they are not educated enough about how to start their own home business, they are scared to try and do it. The more they know, then the more comfortable they would be of starting their own business.
Reason #2: Reading About Business Failures
A lot of people would try to do some research first about a particular thing before they try to do it. Starting a home business is the same thing. Unfortunately, people may come upon a lot of stories about how their home business ended up in failure, and these stories could actually create a sense of fear in people. Nobody wants to lose their hard-earned money. If you read a lot of stories of failure about home businesses, then you might find yourself second-guessing yourself.
Reason #3: No Confidence
One of the reasons why people fear starting their own home business is that they do not believe that they know well enough to be able to market their product or service to their prospective clients. If they can’t sell their products well, then they believe that they won’t be able to earn enough to live on.
These are just some of the reasons why people fear starting their own home business. Starting a home business could be a risky venture, but it can also be very rewarding if done the right way.

Barack Obama Is Right! A Time For Change…
Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the past couple of days you know Barack Obama is now officially the 44th President of the United States, and you also know there is a great deal of buzz about the “change” there will be in the U.S. and the world.
So my question to you is this…
If Barack Obama can pull the U.S. out of the greatest downward spiral since the great depression, why can’t you change your own life and solve your own problems?
Whether you believe he can do it or not is your own opinion.
Here’s 3 reasons why you shouldn’t wait around for the government, or Barack Obama for that matter, to solve your problems:
- Time - Bill Gates has all the money in the world, but there is one thing he can’t buy and that is time.
The financial problems the U.S. faces can’t be fixed overnight, it might take years, even decades for things to return to normal.If you really need change in your life it is up to you to take control and do it now!
- Scope - I don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news, but the U.S. is in pretty bad shape. The list of chores is pretty long: Stabilize the Mid-East, save the economy, redevelop health care, fund social-security, improve education, stop inflation and lower unemployment to name a few.
I’m not saying Barack can’t do it, I think he is very intelligent, but he simply wont be able to fix all of our problems. That’s why you need to take control of what you can. And if that means starting your own home business to solve the money problem then by all means!
- Control - The government might be able to help you at some point in time, but you probably wont be able to control how much help you get or where you get it.
It’s another reason why you are better off helping yourself because you can control what you need help with. Know one knows what you need help with more than you do. The government is limited to what they can do…but you are not!
You should be able to see why that even though this is a historic time in U.S. history, that you shouldn’t wait around for the government to solve your problems no matter what they are.

The Difference Between Goals & Dreams In Home Business
The new year is in full swing and it is time to set goals and resolutions both personal and professional for 2009. But before you start setting home business goals, it is good to understand the importance of goal setting and how to do it right.
The secret to setting goals is to keep them realistic and create an outline or a plan to reach them.
You have to do more to reach your goals than just dream about them.
Goals like “Make more money” or “I want to retire” and “To quit my job” are not really goals, they are dreams.
Empty shell statements with no plan of action.
Goals have a specific plan of action attached to them.
In example:
Instead of “I want more money”
It should be something like “I want to make more money by starting a home business”
You then take it a step further and turn it into a REAL, SPECIFIC, MEASUREABLE, GOAL, when you say:
“I want to make more money by starting a home business selling XYZ product and dedicating 3 nights a week and $3500 dollars to starting this business.”
Do you see the difference?
One is a dream and one is a specific attainable goal with a plan of action for accomplishing it.
When you make goals more specific they become easier for you to reach because they are measureable and you can tell if you are making progress towards them.
So the next time you brainstorm goals for yourself make sure they meet 3 criteria.
- Specific - Not broad generic statements or “dreams” as we call them
- Measureable - How do you know you are making progress if there are no results to measure?
- Attainable - Every goal should push your limits but still be a reasonable accomplishment
Following this advice will make sure you reach your goals by setting them the right way and be more productive as a result.
Goal setting is part of how NOT to fail in an online business.

More Heart Than Talent – Do You Have What It Takes?
As a longtime student of network marketing, I have mentored with several multi-millionaires, from internet marketing experts to master prospectors like Jeffery Combs.
Every year Jeffery Combs holds a well-known conference in Dallas, TX called “More Heart Than Talent”, where many of the biggest names in the home business industry gather to speak. Individuals by the likes of Jim Rohn, Jerry “Rhino” Clark, and other big time leaders all present various topics in a power-packed two day personal growth and business conference.
It is an excellent event for anyone serious about succeeding in any type of direct sales or network marketing endeavor and I highly recommend it but that is not what I want to talk about today.
I want to dive deep into the meaning of the event, and what it really means to have, “More Heart Than Talent”.
What are your first thoughts when you hear this title? What kinds of emotions are triggered? Do you know someone that has more heart than talent?
What is fascinating to me is that the meaning of this phrase to me now is completely different than the meaning it took on when I was first getting started as an entrepreneur.
I understood what my mentor Jeffery Combs was saying on the surface, when he said that—you can show him the most talented person in the world and he will show you how to overcome that person’s talents with heart.
In other words, “Heart Beats Talent Every Time”, he would say.
What separates people that achieve greatness from those that live a quiet life in mediocrity is heart. You can call it what you want—it’s determination, commitment, persistence. It’s the unwavering desire a person has to achieve even their biggest goals and dreams in life and it is not something that can be taught.
Having led several different direct sales and network marketing organizations I can tell you without hesitation I would rather have one person in my organization with heart, than 50 people with talent alone.
How do you approach your business? Do you have heart? Are you determined to succeed? Or do you say things like, “I’ll give it a shot”, or “I hope this works”.
People with heart are empowered, and they empower others. They project confidence in reaching their goals, and do not “give up” if success takes longer than anticipated.
No matter what business you are in, give it all you have, never give up, and you’ll be amazed at the results you’ll achieve.
